How Long Do I Store Raw Footage?
Upon project completion and client approval of final deliverables, all raw footage and photographs will be retained for 30 days. During this period, clients may request additional edits at a daily rate of £200*. After 30 days, raw content will be permanently deleted due to file size considerations.
It is the client’s responsibility to back up the final deliverable(s) online or physically.
Do I Give Clients Raw Footage?
In brief, providing clients with raw footage is not standard practice for myself, or any Videographer. This decision is based on practical considerations. Clients would need a capacious, reliable external hard drive for the large file sizes resulting from filming in ProRes 4:2:2 10-bit 60p HLG. Moreover, manipulating raw footage requires a powerful computer and advanced software knowledge, as it is not readily viewable like a typical video. Again, Clients are free to request additional edits within 30 days of the main video(s) completion, incurring a day rate charge of £200.
